New Wave Health review

By Nora Vance · Updated October 2026

Clear protocol, mid-range price

New Wave Health, a Virginia Beach telehealth practice best known for GLP-1 weight loss, prescribes sermorelin as a nightly injection from $249 a month. Its sermorelin page explains the protocol well but leaves the price to the catalog.

Our verdict

New Wave Health writes one of the clearer explanations of how a sermorelin course runs, from bedtime dosing to a month-three recheck. The price is a "from" figure on the catalog page only, and its terms make cancellation and refunds strict, so read them before you subscribe.

What it is

New Wave Health is a concierge telehealth platform based in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Most of its business is GLP-1 weight loss, and it added a peptide line with sermorelin, tesamorelin, NAD+ and PT-141. Its footer is plain about the model: the platform does not practice medicine or dispense drugs itself. Independent board-certified providers make the prescribing decisions, and state-licensed compounding pharmacies prepare the medication. Sermorelin is offered as an injection under the skin, taken at bedtime.

How it works

You start with a short online assessment tailored to the therapy you pick. A licensed provider reviews your history and, where appropriate, asks for baseline IGF-1 labs before deciding. If it is approved, a partner compounding pharmacy prepares the medication and ships it discreetly to your door. The page lays out what to expect. Weeks one and two start a small dose at bedtime. Weeks three to eight continue nightly dosing, often five nights on and two off. From month three the provider reassesses and may recheck IGF-1 to decide whether to continue, adjust or stop. New Wave says sermorelin is usually run in courses rather than taken indefinitely. Structured check-ins are part of the plan. You must be 18 or older, and during a consult you must be in the same state as your shipping address. Service depends on the state you live in, and New Wave does not list its states on the sermorelin page.

Pricing transparency

The peptide catalog lists sermorelin "from $249/mo". The sermorelin page itself shows no price, so the "from" figure is the only number you see before the assessment. Its terms say a recurring order is charged right away and every 30 days after that until you cancel. You get a notice five to seven days before each charge. To stop, turn off auto-refill in your patient portal at least 48 hours before the next processing date. A new prescription order can be canceled only within 24 hours, and only if the provider network has not received it yet. No refunds are given on medication already dispensed or delivered. Lab costs are not listed. Ask whether $249 is your actual monthly charge at the dose prescribed, and what any baseline labs cost. If it is, three months comes to $747 and six months to $1,494. Because billing runs every 30 days rather than by calendar month, a full year is 12 to 13 charges, about $2,988 to $3,237. The terms say that one subscription price bundles the pharmacy's fee for the drug, the provider's fee and New Wave's platform fee. New Wave refunds an order that has not shipped, or one the provider declines to prescribe. It also refunds a wrong, damaged or unsafe product, if you report it within 48 hours of delivery.

Branded vs compounded

There is no FDA-approved sermorelin in the US, so New Wave's is compounded, and its own disclaimer says compounded medications are not FDA-approved. The partner pharmacies are not named on the sermorelin page. The terms also ask you to waive the right to fill the prescription at a pharmacy of your choice. The page describes the schedule in detail but gives no dose amount or vial size. Your provider sets the exact dose and cadence. New Wave describes its sermorelin as GRF 1-29, the first 29 amino acids of the body's own growth-hormone-releasing hormone. It lists the usual side effects as redness, itching or swelling where you inject, and sometimes flushing, headache, lightheadedness or brief fluid retention. It says sermorelin is not for anyone pregnant, breastfeeding or planning a pregnancy, or anyone with active cancer, a pituitary tumor or an acute serious illness. Corticosteroids and other drugs that act on growth hormone can blunt the effect, so share your full medication list.

  • Side effects and who should avoid it spelled out
  • Refund if the provider declines to prescribe

Watch-outs

Best for

Who should look elsewhere

Anyone who wants a firm monthly price before starting, or who wants flexible refunds. The only price is a catalog floor, and the refund terms are strict.

The evidence behind what New Wave Health prescribes

We grade the molecules, not the marketing. Here is what the human data actually shows for each thing on their menu.

  • Does sermorelin work? What the trials actually measured

Sermorelin reliably makes your pituitary release growth hormone. Beyond that the evidence is one placebo-controlled trial in 19 adults from 1997 — lean body mass up in men only, nothing in women, and no effect on sleep in either.

  • Is Sermorelin FDA-Approved? The Real Answer

Sermorelin was FDA-approved once, under a different name, and that approval is gone. What is sold today is compounded — which is legal, but not the same thing as approved.
