EllieMD review
By Nora Vance · Updated October 2026
16-week cycles, named pharmacy
EllieMD sells sermorelin as an injection or a capsule on a 16-week cycle: twelve weeks of medication, then a four-week break. The injection is billed $645 per cycle and the capsules $837.
Our verdict
EllieMD suits someone who wants a set sermorelin protocol with breaks built in, a named pharmacy and the option to pay in installments. The advertised monthly figure only counts the medication months, and refunds are tight once an order reaches the pharmacy.

What it is
EllieMD is an online health company best known for compounded GLP-1 weight-loss injections and drops. It also sells menopausal hormone therapy, protein products, skincare and a growing list of peptides. Sermorelin comes in two forms, each on its own product page: an injection and an oral capsule. Both are prescription products, compounded to order and shipped by CLOVERx pharmacy. EllieMD also runs a brand-partner program, so you may have heard about it from an independent rep rather than an ad.
How it works
You choose a product, pay, and then fill out a medical questionnaire. In most states a provider reviews the answers without a call. Where state rules require a live visit, you book an audio-video appointment instead. You can also ask support for a phone conversation with a provider. Once the prescription is written and the pharmacy fills it, shipping is free and most packages arrive within one to five business days. EllieMD ships to all 50 states, but not to US territories, P.O. boxes, APO addresses or military bases. The protocol is the distinctive part. EllieMD describes dosing five times a week for about twelve weeks, followed by a four-week break before the next cycle. Its checkout spells this out as a 16-week cycle that renews automatically. A provider has to renew the prescription after two refills or after one year, whichever comes first.
Pricing transparency
The injection page shows "$215 /month" in large type, and directly below it the real charge: $645 billed every 16 weeks. The capsules work the same way, at $279 a month on the page and $837 per cycle. The monthly figure divides the charge across the three medication months only. Spread across the full cycle, including the four-week break, the injection comes to about $161 for every four weeks. You can split the charge with Klarna or PayPal, and HSA and FSA cards are accepted. The consultation and shipping are included. To stop the next cycle, cancel in the patient portal or with support at least 48 hours before the renewal date. The refund rules are strict. Canceling after payment but before the prescription is sent costs a $99 administrative fee. Once the pharmacy has processed the order, nothing is refunded. If a provider decides you are not eligible, the product payment is refunded in full. Cancel inside the last 48 hours and that renewal still goes through; the cancellation applies to the cycle after. If you paid in installments, you still owe the rest of the current cycle after canceling. To switch a renewal from installments to one payment, contact support within seven business days of the charge.
Branded vs compounded
There is no FDA-approved sermorelin on the US market, so both EllieMD products are compounded prescriptions, not finished approved drugs. EllieMD names its dispensing pharmacy, CLOVERx, which many sellers do not. Neither page states a dose, a vial size or a capsule strength, so you cannot tell how much sermorelin a cycle buys until a provider writes the prescription. The published human research on sermorelin used injections. The capsule is a less-studied route, and it costs more per cycle than the injection here. Ask the provider why they would choose one over the other before you pay. EllieMD lists injection-site redness, swelling and pain, headache, and nausea as the common side effects. It says nausea is more likely on an empty stomach and that dizziness can occur.
Pros and watch-outs
What we like
- Dispensing pharmacy named on both product pages
- Clear 16-week schedule with a planned four-week break
- Injection or oral capsule
- Pay over time with Klarna or PayPal; HSA and FSA accepted
- Free shipping and consultation included
Watch-outs
- The monthly figure covers only the medication months
- $645 or $837 is charged up front for each cycle
- $99 fee to cancel before the prescription is sent
- No refunds once the pharmacy processes an order
- No dose, vial size or capsule strength published
Best for
Someone who wants a structured sermorelin cycle with scheduled breaks and a named pharmacy, and who is comfortable paying for sixteen weeks at a time.
Who should look elsewhere
Anyone who wants to try sermorelin for a single month, or who wants an easy refund if plans change. EllieMD sells only the 16-week cycle, and money is hard to get back once an order is placed.
The evidence behind what EllieMD prescribes
We grade the molecules, not the marketing. Here is what the human data actually shows for each thing on their menu.
- Does sermorelin work? What the trials actually measured
Sermorelin reliably makes your pituitary release growth hormone. Beyond that the evidence is one placebo-controlled trial in 19 adults from 1997 — lean body mass up in men only, nothing in women, and no effect on sleep in either.
- Is Sermorelin FDA-Approved? The Real Answer
Sermorelin was FDA-approved once, under a different name, and that approval is gone. What is sold today is compounded — which is legal, but not the same thing as approved.
- Sermorelin Pills vs. Injections: Price and Evidence Compared
Sermorelin tablets and troches are often priced the same as the injection, sometimes higher, and have never been tested in a human trial. Real prices, seller by seller.

- Why does EllieMD's sermorelin cycle include a break?
- EllieMD's protocol is dosing five times a week for about twelve weeks, then four weeks off before the next cycle. The break is built into the 16-week subscription, and the refill ships when the cycle renews.

- EllieMD says its sermorelin is dispensed by CLOVERx pharmacy. The medication is compounded, so it is not an FDA-approved product.
