Sermorelin Reconstitution Calculator
Sermorelin ships as a powder in a vial, measured in milligrams. You add bacteriostatic water, then draw a dose measured in units on an insulin syringe — two different units, and the conversion between them is where most dosing mistakes actually happen. This tool does that conversion from the three numbers you enter.
It computes what your own numbers imply. It does not choose a vial size, a water volume, or a dose for you — for the separate question of what dose the published trial used, see the dose-by-weight calculator.
Your numbers
The arithmetic
- 1. Vial content. 5 mg × 1,000 = 5,000 mcg in the vial.
- 2. Concentration. 5,000 mcg ÷ 1.5 mL = 3,333.3 mcg/mL once mixed.
- 3. Dose volume. 260 mcg ÷ 3,333.3 mcg/mL = 0.078 mL.
- 4. Units on a U-100 syringe. 0.078 mL × 100 units/mL = 7.8 units.
Draw
8 units
The exact target is 7.8 units. A U-100 syringe barrel is only marked in 0.5-unit lines — nothing on it reads finer than that — so 7.8 is not a mark you can draw to. 8 units is the nearest line.
This vial yields
19 full doses
60 mcg left in the vial after the last full dose — not quite enough for one more at this dose.
Why insulin syringe units, not milliliters
A U-100 insulin syringe is calibrated so that 100 units fill 1 mL — each unit is 0.01 mL. That is a small enough increment to be precise, but it also means a small error in the concentration math (mixing more or less bacteriostatic water than intended, or misreading the vial’s milligram strength) turns into a real error in what gets drawn. The calculator above shows the full chain — vial content, concentration, dose volume, then the syringe reading — so each step can be checked against the vial and syringe actually in hand.
Standard 1 mL insulin syringes are marked in whole-unit lines with a half-unit line between them. Nothing on the barrel reads finer than half a unit, so when the math produces a number like 7.8 units, that figure cannot actually be drawn — the nearest line is what gets used, and the calculator says so rather than reporting 7.8 as if it were readable.
